Is the runt of a litter ever the best?

My dog was the runt of the litter, and now, 1 year younger than me, at 12, she is beautiful. She is a Siberian husky and i cant believe she was ever the runt of her family. She is black and White and i have pics of her every where. Thanx, please tell me if anyone else agrees that the most beautiful pets are runts! Thanx again, smiyles.
my animal is a runt as well. my family loves this animal like it was a person. they are the best
Sometimes they’re the best sometimes not so much. Every dog is different regardless of size.
Typically in nature, the runt of a litter is the one least likely to survive,
but when taken care of and raised in safety,
without natural dangers,
the runt has an opportunity grow to be normal and healthy,
so although not all will, they can.
Yes the can be in some instances or if bred by a reputable breeder, who can take care of the puppy.
They can make wonderful pets if they are a result of a correctly and healthy bred pair of dogs, but in most instances, they aren’t the best pets.
I’ve never really thought about it, however I’ve always just presumed that the runts were unhealthy and best to avoid.
However, I am into working gundogs, and the other week I was reading an article about ‘How to choice the right gundog’. The article was written by a gundog trainer and owner, who said that the always went for the runt. As the runts were fighters and if they can survive in the litter, will be able to face any challenges thrown at them in the world of gundogs.
I am not sure. My father once had a runt APBT, he was going to be killed, because he was a runt so Dad got him. He is accually why my family have many pits now. Though he was before my time, dad said he was a very good dog.

mine please
yes i love runt i try 2 get them instead of reg. pups there sooooo cutee
my first lab was the runt of the litter and she was a wonderful dog. very protective and affectionate
My pit bull Tigger was the runt in his family and he is the most beautiful pit bull I have ever seen. He is a brindle pit and he is not yet a year old but his weight is 51 lb. it is so cool having him he is the best!
I have had nothing but the best of luck with runts for 35 years. My newest members of my family are yorkies and I bought the 2 smallest out of a liter of 4. Lacey is 9 weeks now and weighs 1lb. 8oz. and is doing better than her sisters and brother at potty training and training in general…she is very smart. I love runts!
Often times a runt is a great dog because they wind up turning out very tough. They have to fight for everything because they are so small and weaker than their brethren.
I whole heartedly believe our Sib is also the runt of the litter, would explain why he was the last one to find a home, and my personal opinion is he got the best home out of every litter-mate. He is only about 2ft at the shoulder, and is maybe 60-70lbs, he is very stalky, however he is shorter than most Huskies I have met…he is a purebred, however he is just short.
YES I THINK IT IS THE BEST THEY GROW UP BIGGER THAN U WOULD THINK AND THEY ARE VERY SMART AT LEAST SMARTER THAN THE REST
I have a Lady Standard Poodle that was the runt of the litter and she has won best in show 27 times in her career and will be shown on Feb 18 and 19 at Westminster Gardens in New York.
I wouldn’t say that all runts are the best, because these tea cup dogs are pups of poorly bred dogs, sold to gullible people at large prices and the almost always have a bad medical history and are costly to keep because of the medical bills. And history has it that they die at young ages.
Congrats on your dog(runt).
my cat oscar was the runt of the litter, but now he is huge (not overweight) and he is a great cat.
he is a maine coon and very healthy and strong.
I doubt she was the Runt, she might have just been a smaller dog. Runts in a Siberian Husky litter usually pass away or are born dead. How much does she weigh? Should be 35-45 lbs.
hehe. This is so funny. just says it all.
